The Path Ahead

“Is our destiny predestined? Or is man the master of their fate?”

Ye Futian, The Legend of Futian

Behind the Quote

This quote comes from a Chinese fantasy novel I’ve been reading since high school. These kinds of novels are released in chapters, usually every few days or weekly, and translated into English by various means. I stumbled upon them back in junior year of HS, I believe, and they reignited a passion for reading, and kindled a (regretful) appreciation for poetry and beautiful prose. This stuff is seriously entertaining, though you’d be surprised the amount I’ve learned from them. One thing I’ve grasped through my journey In life so far is that learning truly has no boundary; any individual can teach, and anyone willing can learn — sometimes the teacher is a fictional action fantasy novel from the other end of the world, though, lol. The novel finally ended this summer.

Behind the Title

The title of “The Path Ahead” was given as that’s what I think about while staring up the stairs, only to find a closed gate.

I wonder…
What lies beyond?
Will I choose to walk up willingly?
Is my choice merely an illusion?

Behind the Frame

I was scootering my way to Google HQ in DC when this scene caught my eye. I foolishly stopped the scooter without ending the ride (so I lost bread – donation link coming soon?). Interestingly, however, in close proximity was a collection of random animals which made for quite a “is this reality” moment, lol. Literally a random menagerie in the middle of construction sites (shots coming soon). Although I haven’t posted much architectural stuff, I actually quite often find myself entranced by exquisite edifices, engineering marvels, and scenes of symmetry among them. For one, they make for good shots, and also you look pretty cool staring off into the horizon beyond a building… perhaps I’m simply delusional, though.
